Decluttering your bedroom has many benefits, you’ll get more sleep, be less stressed, and reduce the risk of depression. You can also improve your mood and increase your productivity. It will also encourage you to declutter other spaces in your home, which in turn can help improve your life. Take 30 minutes every week to declutter your bedroom, whether it is by throwing things out, doing the laundry, or organizing your storage units.
Sort & Organize Everything
A great way to declutter your room will be by getting rid of things you don’t need, like clothes that you no longer wear, or things that you don’t use anymore. Start by sorting through everything you have in your room. Do this with boxes, bags, clothes, and everything else in your closet and dresser drawers.
Put away things that belong in another room or give them away to someone who can use them or sell them on eBay or Amazon. That will give you some fresh air! You’ll only need to do this once every few months or twice a year, but it’ll save you a lot of time cleaning and sorting in the future.
Start with the Bed
A lot of times we buy beds without really considering the room size, if a bed fits in a room that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s right for the space. Bed sizes have a huge role in cluttering a room, for example, if you have a king size and size queen bed in a small space, it’ll swallow the room, lessen your floor space, and limit your movement. Choose a bed that’ll be useful, like a platform bed, which you can use as storage space to store linens and towels, but at the same time make sure it’s not too big for your bedroom.
Also, there are various mattress sizes and types so make sure you buy the right mattress size for your bed frame or the mattress will get damaged in time.
Organize Your Closet
Your closet is one of the biggest factors that would clutter your room. Even though it may seem like an impossible task, there is actually a way to organize your clothes by breaking them down into manageable chunks, this is not only realistic but also efficient. The first step would be to remove all clothing that was non-essential or seasonal, and then you would need to organize the clothes by category. For example, if you had jeans and blouses in your closet, you might want to place them in two separate piles.
Be Smart with Storage
Instead of throwing your random knick-knacks in the back of your closet, create extra storage space in your bedroom. You can use things like baskets, trays, a bench with storage, or a bookcase. With a bookcase, for example, you’ll be able to organize your books and shelf other things like photo frames or plants. Use furniture items that’ll look nice but will also provide you with more storage.
What’s next?
We have discussed the problem of clutter and how to deal with it and we’ve highlighted that clutter is a problem that our society faces on a daily basis. However, there are ways to overcome clutter in our homes and get your life back on track. This includes setting time limits for decluttering tasks and getting some help from friends or family members.
By organizing our home space, we can reap the benefits of living in a tidy environment - more mental clarity, feeling accomplished by not having to look around for things all the time, or being able to find what you need when you need it!
